HABC and MHA Notice of Annual Plan 2021 and 5-Year Plan

November 2020

 

Notice is hereby given that the proposed Annual Plan 2021 and the 5-Year Plan with supporting Documentation for the Housing Authority of Brevard County (HABC) and the Melbourne Housing Authority (MHA) will be available for public review and comment for the next 45 days (until 5 pm 12/15/2020) at the following locations: 

  • 1401 Guava Ave, Melbourne 32935, 4000 N. Riverside Drive, Indian Harbor Beach, 32937;
  • 584 Player Lane, Merritt Island 32953; and
  • 1686 Marywood Road, Melbourne, 32934.

HABC and MHA Notice of Changes to Admission and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP)

October 2020

 

Housing Authority of Brevard County (HABC) and the Melbourne Housing Authority (MHA) has updated its Admission and Continued Occupancy Policy effective October  1, 2020. These changes bring policy current with all recent HUD requirements and guidance.

 

HABC and MHA Notice of Proposed Utility Allowance Revision

Housing Authority of Brevard County (HABC) and the Melbourne Housing Authority (MHA) will be making an adjustment to its utility allowance effective January 1, 2021. This adjustment is due to changes in utility rates determined by the utility companies.

La Autoridad de Vivienda de Brevard County (HABC) va a realizar un ajuste a su asignación de utilidad efectiva el 1 de enero de 2021.  Este ajuste es debido a los cambios en las tasas de utilidad determinados por las empresas de servicios públicos.

 

Public Housing Waitlist Notice

The Housing Authority of Brevard County and Melbourne Housing Authority will be accepting applications for the Public Housing waiting list for the following dates: August 10, 2020, through September 30, 2020. 

 

Section 8: Temporary Suspension of Relocations/Moves (Suspensión Temporal de Reubicaciones/Movimientos)

The Housing Authority of Brevard County (HABC) offices will remain closed to the public until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the Housing Authority of Brevard County (HABC) offices has implemented a telecommuting plan and temporary operational plan effective (03/23/2020). These plans have been implemented for the daily operational procedures for participants and landlords until further notice. Your patience is greatly appreciated during this time.

Las oficinas de la Autoridad de Vivienda del Condado de Brevard (HABC) permanecerán cerradas al público hasta nuevo aviso debido a la pandemia COVID-19. Por lo tanto, las oficinas de la Autoridad de Vivienda del Condado de Brevard (HABC) a implementado a
nuestro personal un plan de teletrabajamiento y un plan operativo temporal efectivo (03/23/2020). Estos planes se han implementado para los procedimientos operativos diarios para los participantes y propietarios hasta nuevo aviso. Su paciencia es muy apreciada durante este tiempo.

MHA Public Housing Conversion: Resident Participation Questions and Responses

This document will answer the questions MHA received regarding the conversion of public housing to Section 8 voucher rental assistance. It also contains a one-question relocation survey for residents to notify MHA if they intend to move from their unit after the conversion.

 

Section 8 Waitlist Winning Lottery Numbers 

July 2020

 

The 100 application confirmation numbers listed in the document were selected through a random computer draw. The random draw was conducted by an independent, third-party software company. If your confirmation number is listed, then your name has been placed on the Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List. If your confirmation number is not listed, then your entry was not picked in the lottery, and your name cannot be placed on the Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List.

The Housing Authority of Brevard County will be accepting applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program waiting list starting at 12:01am to 11:59pm for the following dates: July 1, 2020, through Sunday July 5, 2020.

Recruitment Fair: Construction Worker

Please see attached the Recruitment Fair flyer for construction workers.  For this initial pilot, Groundswell Startups is working with two companies: Boys Electric and Brevard Windows and Doors. As part of the pilot, Boys Electric will hire 2 candidates and Brevard Windows and Doors will hire 1 candidate. Upon success of the pilot program, after the 90-day OJT, Groundswell will pick up more employer clients (construction, hotel and electric career fields to start) and expand their resources to recruit larger numbers of prospective workers. This is a workforce development initiative for South Brevard residents only.

 

2020 Disaster Preparedness Tax Holiday

The 2020 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday was passed by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis. This sales tax holiday begins Friday, May 29, 2020, and extends through Thursday, June 4, 2020. During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax. However, the sales tax holiday does not apply to the rental or repair of any of the qualifying items. Additionally, the sales tax holiday does not apply to sales in a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment or airport.
